Overview Payments Network Technology is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead one or more squads delivering secure, scalable, and highly available payment-network solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native engineering practices. Roles and Responsibilities • Lead, coach, and develop one or more software engineering squads. • Own delivery, quality, operational readiness, and production outcomes for Java and Spring Boot services. • Guide the design and implementation of microservices, REST APIs, Kafka-based integrations, and event-driven solutions. • Manage team capacity, hiring, performance development, career planning, and succession. • Partner with product, architecture, quality engineering, operations, and dependent teams to manage priorities, risks, and dependencies. • Drive secure engineering, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, resiliency, and continuous improvement. • Communicate delivery status, technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders. Essential Skills • Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot development. • Experience with microservices, REST APIs, Kafka or similar messaging platforms, and event-driven architecture. • Knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases, Git, automated testing, CI/CD, containers, and cloud-native platforms. • Understanding of secure, scalable, resilient, and observable software design. • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. All About You • Experience managing one or more software engineering squads. • People-management experience including performance management, conflict resolution, coaching, and career development planning. • Experience working in Agile delivery environments and across the software development lifecycle. • Clear communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills. • Hands-on experience using AI-assisted engineering tools, including GitHub Copilot and Claude CLI, to improve engineering efficiency is required. • Payments or financial-services domain knowledge is preferred.
