At Albany Nanotech, Micron is expanding its advanced research and development capabilities with a focus on leading-edge lithography, materials innovation, technology pathfinding, and strategic semiconductor ecosystem partnerships. This location plays a critical role in accelerating semiconductor technology development through collaboration with industry leaders, research institutions, and equipment partners. Micron is seeking highly motivated Master's or PhD students to join the Summer 2027 Semiconductor Technology Development Internship Program in Albany, New York. Interns will contribute to advanced semiconductor research projects supporting future memory technologies and process innovations. This internship provides hands-on experience working alongside engineers and researchers in a world-class semiconductor R&D environment. Interns will analyze technical challenges, develop innovative solutions, and present project outcomes to technical leadership at the conclusion of the program. Responsibilities Support semiconductor research and development activities by designing experiments, collecting data, and evaluating results to advance future technology capabilities. Analyze technical and process data using statistical methods to identify trends, solve engineering problems, and develop actionable recommendations. Collaborate with multi-functional engineering teams, researchers, and external partners to execute technology development projects. Document research findings and effectively communicate technical results through reports, presentations, and project evaluations. Leverage AI-enabled tools, advanced analytics platforms, and digital solutions to improve research productivity, accelerate problem-solving, enhance data analysis, and support technical decision-making in accordance with Micron's responsible and secure AI practices. Minimum Qualifications Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related STEM field. Expected graduation date of December 2027 or later. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills through academic research, coursework, or technical projects. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information effectively. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, semiconductor research, laboratory environments, or cleanroom operations. Knowledge of experimental design, statistical analysis, and process characterization techniques. Experience with data analysis tools such as Python, R, MATLAB, JMP, or similar software platforms. Demonstrated research experience through independent projects, technical publications, conference presentations, or equivalent academic achievements. Experience using AI-assisted tools, advanced analytics platforms, or computational methods to improve engineering workflows, research efficiency, data analysis, or technical problem-solving. The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is: $46.51 - $46.51 an hour Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
