As Tire Vehicle Interaction and Tire Modeling Engineer (m/f/diverse) you will lead the development and integration of CAE methods and processes to facilitate the virtual development of tires for OE applications, based on the analysis of the interactions with the application vehicle. The focus is in the area of Vehicle Dynamics, NVH and tire Wear.  Your main tasks and responsibilities are: Identifying gaps and opportunities to utilize simulation tools to derive the optimum product development strategy and turning them into a concrete proposal for a virtual-based process Assessing the feasibility of OE customer requirements in the field of tire models and performance prediction and deriving realistic and in-time responses Driving the development of tools and methods for virtual tire model generation (commercial models such as MF Tire, MF SWIFT, FTire, CDTire or Continental proprietary ones) and performance prediction within structured projects in collaboration with the tire development teams, the external OE customers and the complete CAE community within Continental Leading the application of prototype virtual methods and tools. You are taking responsibility for standardizing their utilization by product development teams worldwide, offering training, support and customization on demand Being actively involved in tire product development activities when appropriate and stepping in proactively to offer technical consultation and lead specialist-level technical interactions with external customers Academic degree in the field of Engineering or Physical / Natural Sciences or similar Proven knowledge of tire & vehicle interaction mechanisms (with a focus on one or more of the following performances: steering, handling, ride, comfort, NVH, exterior noise, interior noise, wear) through professional experience in the vehicle industry or a tire manufacturer Basic experience with the application (ideally development) of Finite Element Methods for tire simulation either with commercial or company-internal software packages Experience with developing CAE processes and tools to fulfill engineering requirements Basic programming skills allowing self-sufficiency in initial stage of CAE method development (e.g. MATLAB/SIMULINK, Python or similar) Experience with on-line (human-in-the-loop) or off-line vehicle dynamics simulation (such as driving simulator systems) is a benefit Hands-on experience with the parametrization and/or application of commercial tire models such as MFTire, MFSWIFT, FTire, CDTire, ideally with the virtual (simulation-based) generation of them is a benefit Experience with problem-solving in engineering tasks, project management and collaboration within complex and multidisciplinary teams; proven performance under pressure and tight schedules English language business fluency (written and spoken) Applications from severely handicapped people are welcome.
