Overview The MSBX Program supports Mastercard software builders by providing consistent, standardized tooling and engineering insights across the SDLC—including design, development, testing, and delivery—so teams can build and operate software with confidence and efficiency. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help design and build a regional observability data lake, enabling reliable, secure, and actionable insights across cloud-native services. This role blends software engineering, cloud platform development, and observability engineering to improve operability at scale. Role & Responsibilities As a Senior Software Engineer on the MSBX Program, you will: Design and implement key components of a regional observability data lake, supporting ingestion, storage, and access patterns for logs, metrics, traces, and events in cloud environments. Build and integrate services that improve the developer ecosystem and operational experience, focusing on reliability, usability, and standard patterns. Contribute to automation and simplification of software delivery and operational workflows (CI/CD, IaC, integrations). Partner with product owners and stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver iteratively, including demos and acceptance discussions. [Software E...n Template | Word] Troubleshoot complex service dependencies and participate in cross-functional problem-solving to drive resolution. [Software E...n Template | Word] Apply an SRE mindset: design for resiliency, supportability, and observability across layers of the stack. [Software E...n Template | Word] Contribute to architecture and design reviews; share best practices through the Software Engineering Guild and MSBX community. Advocate for Mastercard Engineering Principles, MSBX development standards, and Corporate Security guidelines in day-to-day engineering decisions. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, plus relevant industry experience in software engineering and cloud systems. Strong hands-on software engineering experience building and operating distributed services in cloud environments. Working knowledge of observability concepts and tools (logging, metrics, tracing) and how they support operational excellence. Experience with cloud providers (AWS and/or Azure), including identity/access controls, integration patterns, and automation. AWS experience is a plus. Experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads; familiarity with managed Kubernetes services is beneficial. Experience with infrastructure automation and CI/CD tooling (e.g., Terraform/CloudFormation, pipelines, delivery automation). Proficiency in one or more languages such as Java or C# (or similar). Preferred
